1) By the heaven with constellations, 2) and by the promised day, 3) and by the witness and witnessed. Namely, the Universal Intellect, the Universal Soul, Nāṭiq, and Asās.

Burūj (constellations) mean strong forts, palaces and the twelve heavenly constellations: and the heaven with constellation means the Universal Intellect because in his substantial existence are strong forts, beautiful palaces of intellect, knowledge and wisdom and the twelve constellations of the hierarchs, such as Mustajīb, limited Ma'ẕūn, absolute Ma'ẕūn, limited Dācī, absolute Dācī, Ḥujjat of jazīrah (island), supreme Ḥujjat (closest Ḥujjat), Imām, Asās, Nāṭiq, Second and First.

Promised day is the Second, that is, the Universal Soul, because the existence of time externally and internally is due to him. This is the resurrection whose existence is heavy in heaven and the earth since it encompasses them (7:187). Nāṭiq(ṣ) is the witness as Allāh says: "O Prophet! Truly We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of glad tidings and a warner, and as a Dācī (an inviter) to Allāh by His permission and as a luminous lamp" (33:45-46). By the witnessed is meant the Asās as God says: "And thus (O Imāms!) We have made you a justly balanced group, so that you may be witnesses over humankind and so that the Messenger may be a witness over you" (2:143).

The above-mentioned verse follows the verse (85:4): "The infidels were slain as the people of the ditch were destroyed." That is, they were destroyed by spiritual perdition. 5) The fire was abounding in fuel. 6) When they sat around it (fire). That is, they were engaged in

mischievous and malicious activities. 7) And in front of them, they were witnessing what they were doing to the believers. 8) And they did not find any fault with them save that they believed in Allāh, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy. 9) He to Whom belongs the kingdom over the heavens and the earth. This alludes that the people of faith will be granted the spiritual kingdom. God is witness over everything. That is, every reality is observed in the Divine light.

10) Those who persecuted the believing men and women and then never repented shall suffer the scourge of Hell and the torture of burning. That is, they will remain in the fire of ignorance, potentially in this world and actually in the hereafter. 11) Those who believed and did good deeds, will have those gardens wherein streams flow. That is the great triumph. That is, they will have the numerous bounties of intellect, soul and subtle body. 12) Indeed, the grip of your Lord is very severe, that is, the external and internal Divine grip in individual and collective conditions, because His power encompasses intellect, soul and body. 13) It is He Who originates for the first time, and it is He Who revives, that is, as He did ibdāc for the first time, He will repeat it again. 14) And He [the Great] is Forgiving and Loving. The miracle of His forgiveness is such that, as a result, He loves the believers.

15) He is the Lord of the glorious Throne. In this verse the rank of Intellect is praised and attention is drawn to it. 16) He does what He likes. His liking is very organized and filled with veracity and justice. 17 & 18) Has there come to you the story of the hosts of Pharaoh and S̱ amūd? That is, this has been demonstrated spiritually. 19) Nay, those who disbelieve [persist] in belying. That is, they are ignorant. 20) And Allāh surrounds them from all sides, that is, the intellect, soul and body are in His power. 21 & 22) Nay, but it is a glorious Qur'ān written in the Guarded Tablet. That is, where the Qur'ān is in the Guarded Tablet, there it (Qur'ān) is greatly honored with living and intellectual miracles.
