Jan-i jahan kawn hai? Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal Dil men nihan kawn hai? Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

1. Who is the soul of the world? Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal; Who is hidden in the heart? Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

Jalwah-numa hai idhar, hayrat-i ahl-i nazar Gayrat-i shams-u qamar, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

2. He continues to manifest here, bewilderment for the people of reflection;

	The envy of the sun and the moon, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

Chehrah mujhe yad hai, hur-u pari zad hai Shad hai azad hai, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

3. I remember his face, born of houri and pari;

	He is happy, he is free, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

Paykar-i husn-u jamal, ba-hamah wasf-i kamal Dahr men hai be-mithal, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

4. In every aspect the embodiment of perfect elegance and beauty;

	He is peerless in the world, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

Jan-i bahar jan-i man, rawnaq-i bag-u chaman Gunchah-dahan gul-badan, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

5. The Soul of my soul's spring, splendour of garden and orchard;

	Bud-like mouth, rose-like body, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

Jalwah dikha ja dhara, dil men sama ja dhara Ruh men a ja dhara, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

6. Manifest for a little while, dwell in the heart for a moment;

	Enter the soul for a little while, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal!

Sab men usi ka makan, sab hain usi ke nishan Sab ki wohi jan-i jan, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

7. Everyone is his abode, all are his signs;

	He is the Soul of the soul of all, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

Nur-i sahar tujh se hai, cilm-u hunar tujh se hai Lacl-u guhar tujh se hai, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

8. The light of dawn is due to you, knowledge and skill too;

	Rubies and pearls are due to you, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal!

cIshq-u fana ki qasam! Waslc ata kar sanam Kal ko rahenge nah ham, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

9. I swear by love and merging, O Beloved grant me union;

	For tomorrow we may be no more, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal!

cIshq men ik saz hai, jis men tira raz hai Is peh mujhe naz hai, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

10. Love has a musical instrument containing your secret;

	Of which I am very proud, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal!

Ay mire mah-i munir, yad tiri dil-padhir Tujh se fida hai Nasir, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal

11. O my bright moon! To remember you is soothing;

	Nasir is sacrificed for you, Yar-i Badicu'l-Jamal!
