Yeh tera cishq mujhe hai sharab se bih-tar Shamim-i kuchah-yi janan gulab se bih-tar

1. Your love to me is better than intoxicating wine; The fragrance of the beloved's lane is sweeter than the rose

Tum a ke dil men raho main hijab ho jaun To phir bhi kayse banun us hijab se bih-tar?

2. Come! make my heart your abode, I will be your veil; Even so, how can I excel over that other veil?

Wohi hai ganj-i karam awr wohi hai kan-i cata Nahin hai koi sakhi an-janab se bih-tar

3. He alone is the treasure of generosity, he alone the mine of gifts; None more generous than him exists, he alone, the exalted

Tira khayal-i hasin mujh ko khwab-i rahat hai Hai koi khwab kahin mere khwab se bih-tar?

4. Beautiful thoughts of you are like a peaceful dream to me; Can there be a dream more beautiful than mine?

Jamal-u husn tira ik kitab-i qudrat hai Nahin hai bashari kitab is kitab se bih-tar

5. Your beauty and elegance are a Divine book; No human book can compare with that book

Agar-chih chand sitaron men mithl-i sultan hai Hai mere dil ka hasin mahtab se bih-tar

6. The moon among the stars is king; But the beloved in my heart surpasses the moon's beauty

Suwal aysa kiya jis men ganj-i hikmat hai Kih caql jis ko kahe: Har jawab se bih-tar

7. His question contained the treasure of wisdom; A question that the intellect declares: excels any answer

Zawal-i cahd-i jawani se mujh ko gam nah huwa Kih fikr-u caql-i kuhan-sal shabab se bih-tar

8. Youth's passing did not sadden me; For the reflection and intellect of old age are better than youth

Khitab-i cishq-u fana gar kare zi-rah-i karam Yehi khitab mujhe har khitab se bih-tar

9. By way of grace, if he invites me to love and union; Such an invitation I will prefer to any other

Yeh dard-i cishq ki talkhi cajib shirin hai Sharab-i cishq hai yeh har sharab se bih-tar

10. How wonderfully sweet is the bitterness of love's agony; This is the wine of love, superior to any other

cItab men bhi tajalli tiri cajib-u garib Nahin hai koi cata is citab se bih-tar

11. Even your reproof is a manifestation so wonderful, so strange; For me, no other gift excels this reproof

Wohi hai nur-i azal aftab-i calam-i dil Hazar darajah woh is aftab se bih-tar

12. He alone is the eternal light, the sun of the heart's world; A sun thousands of times brighter than this sun

Habab-i dil chih cajab bahr, us peh carsh-i Khuda! Nahin hai bahr koi is habab se bih-tar

13. How wondrous is the heart's bubble, 'tis an ocean for God's Throne; There exists no ocean superior to this fragile bubble-heart

Suno kih mera sanam hai buton ka shahinshah Nahin hai koi mire intikhab se bih-tar

14. Hearken, for my idol is the sovereign of all idols; Know that no other is better than my chosen one

BigaÜ gaya hai agar bag phir kharaj nahin Kharab-i cishq hun main har kharab se bih-tar

15. If the orchard is destroyed, there can be no revenue; I am ruined by love, a ruination better than any other

cAdhab-i cishq Nasira chih khub jannat hai! Yehi cadhab mujhe har thawab se bih-tar

16. O Nasir! How heavenly is love's rebuke; This punishment I do prefer to any reward
