Hundred Questions - The Beads of Tasbih (rosary)
The Beads of Tasbih (rosary):
Q51 Why do we have 99 beads in our tasbih? Why is it divided into three parts of thirty-three beads each?
A51 In fact, there are a hundred beads in the tasbih. The reason for dividing into three parts of thirty-three beads each is that in Islam the tasbih of Fatimah (May peace be through her) is very important. It is: 33 times 'Allahu Akbar' (God is great), 33 times 'al-hamdu li'llah' (praise be to God), and 33 times 'subhana'llah' (God is free from all attributes), and once 'la ilaha illa'llah' (there is no God except God). Thus the numbers of beads are arranged according to this blessed tasbih.
