Hundred Questions - The Station of Ma`rifat
The Station of Ma`rifat
Q69 When does a person reach the station of ma`rifat? During his lifetime or after death?
A69
- The supreme purpose of man's coming to this world is `ibadat and ma`rifat (God's worship and His recognition), therefore this should be accomplished in this world and in this life, not after death in the next world. For, in this field of action the primary test is the evaluation and assessment of his `ibadat and ma`rifat.
- According to the wise Qur'an, "Whoso is blind here will be blind in the Hereafter, yet more astray from the path". (17:72). This allusion is to the recognition of God and the recognition of the soul, called ma`rifat. This also shows clearly that the attainment of the basic ma`rifat is possible in the very life of this world.
