In verse (31:20), God says: "… Yet of humankind is one who disputes concerning God without knowledge or guidance or a luminous Book".
Here, in the cycle of Prophethood, by knowledge is meant the hujjat, by guidance, the Imam and by a luminous Book, the Prophet; in the cycle of Imamat, by knowledge is meant the da`i, by guidance, the hujjat and by luminous Book, the Imam, for the ta'wili ranks and the hudud of religion are in accordance with the requirements of time and place.
Further, it should be known that in the cycle of Imamat, the da`i is `ilmu'l-yaqin, the hujjat is `aynu'l-yaqin and the Imam, haqqu'l-yaqin. Thus, without these hudud of religion, the discussion and debate concerning God's essence and attributes and His recognition and oneness, causes deviation.
