Recognition of Imam Part II - Purpose of the Torah

Purpose of the Torah

Tags: Torah

In the verse (5:44), God says: “Indeed We revealed the Torah, wherein is guidance and a light, by which the Prophets who submitted themselves (unto Allah) judged the Jews, and so did the rabbis and the priests by that wherewith they were entrusted Allah's Book, and they were witnesses thereof.”

The above mentioned verse clearly reveals that the purpose of the Torah was guidance and light. That is, by the Torah was meant a guidance which may lead to the path of the light of recognition, and the recognition of the Imam of the time may thus be attained.

Further, this verse also reveals that there was the same purpose in the appointment by God of Prophets, Imams and `ulama': that they may judge the people according to the guidance of the Torah, so that they may attain the recognition of the light by following this guidance.
