Spiritual Experiences - Golden Jubilee

Golden Jubilee

(To celebrate 50 English translations of the author's books)

Az bara'e jashn-i zarrin mah-u anjum a ga'e
Jab paya-pay yar-i jani ka tarajum a ga'e

The moon and stars heralded the Golden Jubilee,
As one after another my cherished friend's translations arrived

Dil-kashi men tarjume hen tazah dulhan ki tarah
Pur-bahar-u jan-fiza hen bag-u gulshan ki tarah

The translations are as attractive as a newly-wed bride
Blossoming and soul-nourishing like a garden and meadow

Tarjuma ko khwud parhen to ro raha tha main kabhi
Wadi-yi hayrat men az-khwud kho raha tha main kabhi

At times I cried when I read the translations,
At times I lost myself in the valley of bewilderment

Sajdah-yi shukranah tha jab zar-u giryan gir gaya
Main fida-yi yar-i jani mast-u hayran gir gaya

In the prostration of gratitude, I dropped down crying,
Sacrificed for this beloved friend, intoxicated and bewildered I fell down

Tarjumon ne in kitabon ko to mashhur kar diya
Doston ke dil ko az-bas shad-u masrur kar diya

These books have been made famous by the translations
The hearts of friends are extremely happy

Tarjume se in kutub ko ruh-i jannat mil ga'i
Yeh haqiqat he kih mujh ko awr `izzat mil ga'i

The translations gave the soul of paradise to these books
It is a fact, that I have attained greater respect

Woh qalam se gul-fishan he awr zaban se durr-fishan
`Ilm-u hikmat ke jahan men kamyab-u kamran

With pen, he spreads flowers, with tongue he scatters pearls
In the world of knowledge and wisdom, he is successful

Ahl-i magrib ke liye ab ganj-i `irfan ho gaya
Jis ne dekha he khazane ko woh hayran ho gaya

For the people of the west, there is now the treasure of recognition
Whoever has seen this treasure is amazed

Wasf-i mawla se bhari he har kitab-i mustatab
Kiyun nah ho phir yeh khazanah kull jahan men la-jawab

Every excellent book is full of Mawla's praise,\\ Why should this treasure not be unique in the entire world

`Ishq-u masti ki qasam! Sab ayk hen ay dostan
Fath-i `alam he suno ab shadman ho shadman

I swear by love and intoxication, O friends! We are all one,
Listen! T'is a victory over the world, be tremendously happy

In ki har tahrir se ati he khwushbu-yi gulab
Har `ibarat de rahi he `ishq-i mawla ki sharab

From each of his writings there is the fragrance of roses
Each passage presents the wine of Mawla's love

Fazl-u ihsan-i Khuda he yeh firishtah a gaya
Warnah ham ayse kuja awr ayse karname kuja!

It is a grace and favour of God that this angel has come
Otherwise who am I, and where are such feats

Nam-i nami he Faqir awr `ilm-u hikmat men amir
Tere is `ilm-u `amal ka sadqah ho ja'e Nasir

His name is Faquir, in knowledge and wisdom he is rich
For this knowledge and your deeds, may Nasir be sacrificed

Ik jahan-i `ilm in ke hath se abad he
Is men jo bhi bas raha he shad he azad he

A world of knowledge is prosperous by his hand
Whoever is living in it is happy and free

Jang-i `ilmi men nah puchho zarb-i Samsam-i `Ali
`Ilm shamshir-i `Ali he dast he nam-i `Ali

In the battle of knowledge ask not about Samsam-i `Ali's strike
`Ali's sword is knowledge, `Ali's name, the grip

"Yak-haqiqat" ne bataya ham sabhi hen ayk jan
Sab men ik he ayk men hen sab nihan

Monoreality has shown that we are all one soul
All in one and in one are hidden all

Mere `alam men `azizan meri ruh ki kapiyan
Is se barh kar hen sabhi us pur-futuh ki kapiyan

In my world, `azizan are copies of my soul
Greater than that, all are the victorious Imam's copies
