Bab or Hujjat-i Azam: The word bab (pl. abwab) is derived from the root letters ba, waw, ba, which literally means door, gate or entrance. In Ismaili terminology it means the dignitary, without whose knowledge it is impossible to enter the spirituality and luminosity of the Imam of the time. Such a dignitary is the Hujjat-i Azam or the Supreme hujjat of the Imam. Also the Imam is the hah of the Asas and the Asas is the hah of the Natiq, to his knowledge and wisdom, for as God says: "And enter houses through their doors" (2:189).

Ahillah (New moons)

It is said in verse (2:189): "They ask you about the new moons. Say: They are times fixed for men, and for pilgrimage."

Some of the wisdoms of this verse are: (i) The sun is the example of the light of azal and the new moon is the luminous birth of its mazhar of the time. (ii) The sun is the symbol of the holy Prophet and the moon is the symbol of the Imam of the time. (iii) Everything has a renewal, but the renewal of the moon is very conspicuous.

Ahillah (Wisdom of new moons)

In the material world there are two means of material light, the sun during the day time and the moon during the night. Similarly, in religion there are two sources of the light of guidance: externally the Prophet and internally the Imam of the time. (viii) First, the natiq is the sun and the asas the moon, then the Imam is the sun and the bab is the moon. (ix) When the new moon of the light of a mu'min at the rank of intellect becomes the full moon, he is blessed with the holy vision (didar-i aqdas) and the supreme pilgrimage (hajj-i akbar). This is alluded to in the words "mawaqit (times)" and "hajj (pilgrimage)" in verse (2:189) mentioned above.

Gate of the Holy Prophet (Bab-i Nabi)

Recognise God from Murtaza, or seek Murtaza from God, Seek the sun from the light, or the light from the sun.

Recognise well the beginning dot of the Qur’ an, then receive Given knowledge and wisdom from A to Z.

If a Light and a Book are openly revealed from God, Recognise the Light from His Book or the Book from His Light.

The gate of Ahmad’s city of knowledge is none but 'Ali, Say! will you enter it by the wall or by the gate? (2:189)

The real successor of Mustafa is 'Ali, On the basis of the text of the Qur’an and also by election.

The Divine command to mankind is in three forms, By a special sign, from behind a veil or by a gracious messenger.

Thus the lord of God’s command is present (in this world), Recognise him so that you may find the path to God from the veil.

Know! the veil of the secret of oneness is Karim of this time, He is the light of Mustafa and the successor of Murtaza.

Why would God have called the ignorant blind and deaf, If there had not been the mazhar of God or a speaking veil?
