A special example of the purification of the Perfect Men is mentioned in verse (3:55): "When Allah said: O cIsa! Verily, I will take you away and raise you up to Me and purify you of those who disbelieve and set those who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection." In this Divine teaching there are several ta’wili allusions. Thus the death of Hazrat cIsa which is mentioned here is his spiritual death that occurs to all the Perfect Men in their physical lifetimes and by which the personal Resurrection takes place. In that state the form or forms of the soul of the Perfect Man are raised up to God. The repeated miracle of the raising up of the soul which Hazrat cIzra’il shows is truly amazing and with this event the Perfect Man is purified. In a sense, this means that all the particles of the souls of disbelievers in his personal world die away.

Q451 In verse (3:55), God said to Hazrat Jesus(c): “And I will set your followers above the unbelievers till the day of resurrection.” This verse raises an extremely difficult question: Had the resurrection not taken place at the end of Hazrat Jesus(c)’ cycle? If the answer is in the negative, his followers still remain above others, but how can this be possible? Kindly give us the correct answer to this question.

  • The cycle of Jesus(c) came to an end due to the resurrection that took place in the beginning of Prophet Muhammad(s)’s prophethood, and the promise that was made to the mu’mins of that cycle was also fulfilled.
  • Study verse (61:6) of how Hazrat Jesus(c) had given the glad tidings of the coming of the Messenger after him (i.e. the holy Prophet) and what the children of Israel said and how they rejected him when the time came.
