Q.18. You said that the luminous birth of Hazrat Isa took place in the seven stages of spirituality. Can you give us an example of this?
Ans.18. Yes, God willing, I will cite an example. For instance to say “This I may bestow on you a pure (zaki) son” (19:19). Here, a pure son is an indication of the perfect stage of the light of Hazrat Isa. To name Light “son” is correct in the language of ta’wil, in the sense that at the level of spirituality, one of the various manifestation of the Light is in the form of voice, in which numerous voice function. One of these voice is like the voice of a child. In the word pure or zaki is alluded the purity of Intellect, more than the purity of body or soul. That is to say, the greatest characteristics of intellect is to purify people intellectually by imparting knowledge. Thus according to this glade tiding, the final spiritual birth of Hazrat Isa takes place and indicating this, it is said: “So eat (from the ripe dates) and drink (from the water of the spring) and cool the eyes (with the vision of the Light)” (19:26). By dates is meant wisdom and by water, knowledge and by cooling the eyes, is meant the delight of the eye, which is the Light and the son, whose vision takes place at the supreme level.
Q444 Could you explain in the light of the Qur’an the fact that Hazrat Maryam(c) had given birth to Hazrat Jesus(c) not only in a physical sense, but also at the level of the soul and intellect?

- God willing, when such a great angel whom God called “ruhana” (Our Spirit), came to Hazrat Maryam(c), this shows that at this time she had reached the highest level of spirituality. In this state, His saying “I may give you a pure child” (19:19) is a bright proof and good news that Hazrat Maryam(c) has to give birth to Hazrat Jesus(c) at the level of the intellect.
- “Then the birth pangs led her to the trunk of a palm tree” (19:23). This means the sacred Sanctuary and the level of the intellect.
