Those who meditate on the Qur’an cannot deny the fact that good is among the names of Paradise and evil among the names of Hell, as it is said in the Qur’an: “Every soul shall taste of death; We try you with evil and good a test; and unto Us shall you be returned” (21:35). God and evil exist in this world partially but in the next world they exist completely. Since good and evil are names of Paradise and Hell the trial of people takes place in the sense that, in Paradise they are purified through knowledge and wisdom and in Hell, they burn until they deserve to enter Paradise, so that thus being purified, they may be able to then return to the presence of God.
