26:83

related refs 26:84, 2:124, 4:54

In the Qur'an it is said: "My Lord'. Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous ones (al-salihin) and make-for me a tongue of truth in the later generations" (26:83- 4) . In these verses, in which God has expressed the prayer of Hazrat Ibrahim, lies the greatest secret of monorealism. Its ta'wil is: My Lord, grant me a treasure of the word Be (kalimah-i kun) and unite me to the righteous ones (al-galibin), i.e. keep me alive forever in the chain of light (silsilah-i nur) and make the tongue of truth of the Perfect Men my tongue, till the final Prophet, the tongue of the Prophets and after him, the tongue of the Imams.

Precious Treasures 61

It was Hazrat Ibrahim’s desire that, not only in his own lifetime, but also for the future a tongue be granted to him through which the realities and recognition of religion could be expressed, for as it says in the Wise Qur’an: "O Lord! Grant me a hukm (i.e. recognition of the Divine Word) and unite me with the righteous (salihin) and appoint for me a truthful tongue among posterity." (26:83-84). Despite some verbal differences this prayer is similar in meaning to the prayer in which Hazrat Ibrahim asks God to continue Imamat in his progeny (2:124) and indeed God granted him his wish (4:54). This means that the Imam is living and present in every age and that he speaks the truth and is the tongue of Hazrat Ibrahim, whose teachings the Holy Prophet himself followed.

Fruits of Paradise (48)

Khalilu’llah cAli (peace be upon him):

In this holy name first God is mentioned, the purpose of which is the concept of unity, then there is the praise of God, that He made Ibrahim His friend (needy) and enriched him with the wealth of light; then in mentioning cAli, it is alluded that the chain of light will continue till the resurrection in the progeny of Ibrahim, and that is the progeny of Muhammad and the children of cAli. Hadrat Ibrahim in his own time had prayed in the following way: “My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous (al-salihin). And make for me a truthful tongue (lisan sidq) among the people of the future” (26:83-84). The law of reality (qanun-i haqiqat) says that God has united Ibrahim with the chain of the light of guidance of his progeny by granting him wisdom and he is alive in this light and God has made the true Imam his tongue. And the purpose of the truthful tongue is to explain knowledge and wisdom.
