47:24

Regarding the importance of insight in studying Qur’anic verses, God says: “Do they not meditate on the Qur’an, or are there locks on the hearts.” (47:24).\\

In connection with the importance and need of insight in studying the universe, which is the explanatory sign of the Qur’an, God says: “Lo! in the difference of the day and night and all that God has created in the heavens and the earth are signs, verily, for the people who fear (God).” (10:6).

Pearls of marifat 95

There is not a single subject of the holy Qur’an, which is not the subject of the heart, directly or indirectly. For the noble Qur’an is a perfect and complete heavenly guide-book for all human beings, whose teachings and guidance are directed towards the centre of the external and internal senses of man, which is the heart. This shows that the real man, whether good or bad, is the heart, which the glorious Qur’an addresses. It is the responsibility of the heart to understand its address, as the holy Qur’an says: “Do they not reflect on the Qur’an or are there locks on their hearts?” (47:24). That is, the understanding of the Qur’an is the responsibility of the heart and mind. It is a different matter if someone does not reflect on it or his heart is locked. Book of Healing (42)

You may certainly know that different parts of medicinal herbs are used as medicine. Thus, the roots of some and the flowers, fruits, seeds, etc. of others are used. Thus considering the wise Qur’an as the supreme Paradise or the Garden of Rizwan, the holy verses of the former are compared with the medicinal herbs of the latter, then both in the exoteric and esoteric aspects of each and every verse, will be conceived nothing but healing or medicinal efficacy, particularly in their roots and seeds. By the root is meant the depth of the meaning and the seed alludes to the essence of wisdom. It is because of this that, it has been stressed to penetrate the depth of Qur'anic thought (47:24) and the essence of wisdom is given the rank of abundant good (khayr-i kathir) (2:269).

Yatadabbaruna(They reflect, ponder)

It is said in verse (47:24): "Do they not reflect upon the Qur'an or are there locks on the hearts?" From this heavenly teaching on the one hand the very great importance of reflecting upon the Qur'an becomes evident, and on the other hand, it also becomes evident that in this connection there are locks on some hearts. As Hakim Pir Nasir-i Khusraw (q.s.) has said in his Diwan:

Qufl az dil bardar wa Qur’an rahbar-i khwud kun Ta rah shinasi wa gushadah shawadat dar

"Remove the locks from the heart and make the Qur'an your guide; so that you may know the path (walk on it) and the door (of the city of knowledge and that of the house of wisdom) open to you." (Diwan, Taqawi, p. 173; Minuwi and Muhaqqiq, p. 507).

Thousand Wisdoms 964 (503)

Hazrat Pir,on the basis of the Qur`anic verse (47:24): “Do they not reflect on the Qur`an or are there locks on their hearts?” ,emphatically invites to reflection, research and ta`wil and condemns taqlid or blind conformity. Thus regarding the Qur’ᾱn, he says: Sarasar pur za tamthalast tanzil
Tu zu tafsir khwandasti nah ta’wi l
Tanzil is full of similitudes from beginning to end,
Of which you have read only the exegesis and not the ta’wil.
