Law of Duality: In verse (51:49) God says: "And of everything We have created pairs, so that you may reflect". This is God's law of duality, from which nothing among the existents is excluded. Now in the light of this law, we would like to explain that martyrdom (shahadat) is of two kinds. One is spiritual and the other physical. If some fortunate mu 'mins attain the experience of the stage of Izrail, through knowledge, ibadat and spiritual exercises, before their physical death i.e. they die spiritually, then this is their spiritual or inner martyrdom (shahadat). The other one is physical death which is well known and does not need to be discussed further.
