55:78

The main source of blessing is the Supreme Name of God, may His glory be exalted (55:78), whose blessings never cease. One of these blessings is healing from every kind of disease, for His Blessed Name contains everything.

Book of Healing (29)

There are manifold blessings for the intellect and soul in the blessed name of God, the Exalted, and in His abundant remembrance, by attaining which the hearts become satisfied (55:78; 33:41; 13:28). To understand how exalted and vast is the concept of the satisfaction of the heart, we have to look in the holy Qur’an, particularly in the story of Hazrat Ibrahim (2:260) and in the description of the satisfied soul (nafs-i mutma'innah) (89:27). The nature of the satisfaction of Hazrat Ibrahim's heart is such that, he had in fact, observed the miracles of inbi`ath (Resurrection). Now, if we take the example of the satisfied soul from the Prophets and awliya', again the concept of it will go as high as that of the satisfaction of Hazrat Ibrahim's heart. Anyhow, you can see in the above-mentioned verse (89:27), that here the meanings of satisfaction touch the heights of Paradise. From this it becomes as clear as the bright sun, that the Divine satisfaction (13:28), which the hearts attain by the abundant remembrance of God, is infinite and in it are numerous foods as well as medicines for the intellect and the soul.

Book of Healing (41)

May God save us from ethical diseases, such as jealousy, enmity and rancour! Every such disease is an heavenly punishment which befalls due to disobedience. Thus the wise mu'mins are those who make their heart the abode of Divine remembrance and well-wishing. No bad thought can enter such a heart. If by accident it does enter, it cannot stay there. For Divine remembrance is the torrential source of blessings (55:78, 29:45), with whose inundating flow, everything is swept away and nothing can cross these waves and reach the heart. This happens only when the Supreme Name of God, the Great, the Exalted, due to abundant remembrance causes Resurrection.

Book of Healing (144)

Q5. Is there a practice (amal) by which a mu'min can protect his house from calamities and afflictions?

A5. Yes, a sure and reliable practice is to remember God loudly and to recite tasbih in the house in the morning and in the evening (24:36). You may have heard of the excellence of suratu'r-rahman, which is called the "Bride of the Qur'an". At the end of it, it is said: "Blessed is the name of your Lord, Majestic and Bounteous." (55:78). That is, the house or the heart in which Allah is remembered abundantly, will have every kind of blessing.

Practical Sufism and Spiritual Science (136)

The Discovery of the Realities of Tasmiyah: Seeking special success from the Lord of the worlds, it is stated that tasmiyah is the name of the kalimah “Bismi’llah”, which is found in the beginning of every Surah (except Surah of Tawbah) of the holy Qur’an. This kalimah, the complete form of which is “Bismi’llahi’r-rahmani’r-raheem” is among those blessed kalimat (consisting of more than one word) names of God, which are elaborate and full of spiritual bounties and blessings, as the Qur’an says: “Full of barkat (ped. barakat, blessing) is the name of your Lord, Mighty and Glorious” (55:78). Here the special meaning of barkat or blessing is the infinity of knowledge and wisdom. That is, the chain of the wonders of knowledge, which commences as a result of the constant remembrance of the special names of the Lord, never ceases. And under this supreme blessing of knowledge and wisdom, other spiritual and material blessings can also be attained. The word barkat literally means growth and increase.

DU’A – ESSENCE OF IBADAT (6)

Q522 At the end of most Qur’anic surahs there is an important ayat, which contains great secrets. Would you kindly explain the wisdom of the last ayat of the surah of Rahman? A522

  • The last ayat is “Blessed is the name of your Lord, the Majestic, the Generous.” (55:78). This is the praise of the supreme Name of Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, which is living and speaking in every age.
  • The people of ma rifat know that not only does Allah have treasures, but He has the treasure of treasures as well, which is indeed the Imam-i mubin and contains all sublime blessings.
