A person, more or less, has as many souls as those of the planet earth. Certainly, it was for this reason that the Wise Qur'an said: "Whosoever kills a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind" (5:32). The wisdom in this verse is that an human being is potentially a personal world and potentially the people of the entire world are living in him. Thus if a divinely guided person, by the permission of God, revives a person in the sense of faith and real life, then it is as if he revives all mankind in his personal world. Such a miraculous person is only the Imam of the time, who alone can revive the dead in this way.

Read the story of Habil and Qabil in the Qur’an in verses (5:27-31) and then see verse (5:32): “For this reason (i.e. the assassination of Habil by Qabil) did We prescribe to the children of Israel that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men, and whoever brings it to life, it is as though he brought all men to life”. This is a Qur’anic proof about the importance and excellence of the personal world, in which all the people of the world live in the form of spiritual particles. All these are, in reality, parts of your soul.

Book of Healing (273)

Countless souls are kept in your personal world, if you are martyred in heavenly love, God will make you a living Paradise. The people of the entire world will be resurrected in your personal Paradise, and they will be obliged to you, because it is you who has, by the command of God, resurrected them, as the Wise Qur'an says: "And he who revived a human being it shall be as if he revived all people." (5:32). It is not possible for someone to revive another person if he himself has not been truly revived. But if he has been revived after dying before the physical death, it is as if he has revived a human being (i.e. himself) and as a result he revived all the people of his personal world forever and ever. This is the explanation of major jihad and spiritual martyrdom. Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds!

Part 19

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

In verse (5:32), God says: “We decreed for the children of Israel that whosoever kills a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all humankind and whoso saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all humankind.” The wisdom that all human beings exist in every human being or that every human being is a personal world potentially or actually is hidden in this verse. If an individual does not undergo the spiritual resurrection the personal world exists in him potentially. Whereas, the entire world of humanity exists spiritually in actual form in the personal world of every Perfect Man who has undergone spiritual resurrection, and in this there are countless bounties and thus God invites all people to the abode of peace (10:25).

Verses (5:15-16) say: “There has come to you from Allah Light and a manifest Book, namely the Qur’an, whereby Allah guides those who seek His pleasure on the paths of peace …”.

Travelling towards God (as-sayru ila’llah) comes to an end after annihilation in God (fana’ fi’llah), but travelling in God (as-sayru fi’llah) never comes to an end, because the manifestations and miracles of His attributes are boundless and endless. Thus the endless journey in Allah’s Light and attributes is called as-sayru fi’llah, or travelling on the paths of peace.
