43:28
Aqib (1) (Children, progeny)
It is said about Hazrat Ibrahim in verse (43:28): "And He made it (knowledge of tawhid) an everlasting word in his progeny also, so that people may return (to the Imam of the time in every age)."
Question: How is the bridge of spiritual link made between the exalted Imam and his heir and followers?
Answer: It is made through four unique things, which are: love for the Imam, Imam’s special blessings, special teaching and the gift of ism-i azam (supreme Name). These are like the four elements of this spiritual construction.
Aqib (3) (Children, progeny)
Regarding verse (43:28): "And he made it an everlasting word in his progeny", in Majmau’l-bayan it is reported from Imam Jafar as-Sadiq that he said: "By the everlasting word in his progeny is meant the Imamat in the progeny of Ibrahim till the Day of Resurrection." That is, it is and will continue till the Resurrection of resurrections in the progeny of Hazrat Ibrahim (al-Mizan, XVIII, p. 106).
Kalimat Allah (Ism-i azam, Supreme Name)
In verse (43:28) God says about Hazrat Ibrahim: "And he made it (luminosity and recognition) a lasting word in his progeny so that they may return (to God)." The lasting word (ism-i azam) continues in the progeny of Hazrat Ibrahim forever, so that due to the resurrection in every age, people may return to God, since resurrection is hidden in the ism-i aczam.
Another proof of how the Light, the real existence of the Prophet and Imams is hidden in the Word (bol), is mentioned in the Qur’ᾱn regarding Hazrat Ibrᾱhīm: “ And he (Ibrᾱhīm) made it (i.e. the Light of Prophet hood and imᾱmat) a Word enduring among his children, that they may return (to Him)” (43:28). That is, Hazrat Ibrᾱhīm entrusted his children with all the attributes and characteristics of Prophet hood and imᾱmat in the form of a pure and wisdom-filled Word, which continues in his progeny till the Resurrection.
Q145 It is said in verse (43:28): “And he made it an everlasting word in his progeny so that they may return (to Allah).” Would you kindly tell us the (ta’wīlī) wisdom of this verse?
A145 The ta’wīlī wisdom of this verse is that Hazrat Abraham(c) made the secret of recognition (sirr-i macrifat) the everlasting word (ism-i aczam, supreme Name) in his progeny, so that people may always return to the recognition of God through the progeny of Abraham(c). Here it is obvious that the chain of the descendants of Abraham(c)/descendants of Muhammad always continues in this world, because the everlasting word is in this chain.
