57:25
In the verse (57:25) God says: "Indeed, We sent Our messengers with clear and bright miracles, and We sent down with them the Book and the Balance, so that men might uphold justice. And We sent down iron wherein is mighty war and many benefits for men, and so that God will know who helps Him and His messengers (while God and His messengers are) not in front of him. Surely, God is All-strong, All-mighty".
In this Qur'anic guidance and teaching which is full of wisdoms, by the Book is meant the rank of imamat, namely, the Imam who is the spirit of tanzil, and by the Balance, the Asas, by whose ta'wil this essential Justice can be established among the people that the gradual guidance which is in the equivocal verses, their door does not close, and by iron, is meant Hazrat Qa'im al-qiyamat, who is the mightiest in performing internal and spiritual jihad. As a result of his jihad all people will be united and by this international unity and integrity people will attain many kinds of benefits. And those who are true mumins, their souls will participate in this jihad and they can help God and His messengers in this sense.
Hadid (Iron); God says: “ And We revealed iron, through which is vehement war and benefits for the people” (57:25). By this is meant the knowledge of Imamat which is revealed from the fountainhead of Intelelct, and whose role is vehement and tremendous in jihad of knowledge and spirituality and there are other benefits in it for the people. Just as arms and war materials are made from the material iron, spiritual arms are made from the knowledge of Imam, which are strong and vehement for the war of taw’wil, particularly the ibdai shirts which are made in the stage of Izrail and in the workshop of Intellect.
Hadid (Iron, sharp, keen)
It is said in verse (57:25): "And We sent down iron by which there is vehement war, as well as many benefits for mankind." That is, the spirituality of the Imam is that iron of knowledge from which the arms for the vehement spiritual war of resurrection are made, so that by this there may be the victory and eminence of Islam on the one hand and on the other, people may be made to enter paradise willingly or unwillingly, where there are bounties only.
It is mentioned in verse (57:25): "And We sent down iron ...." That is, Allah sent the soul of iron from the spiritual world, which went to a land or a mountain and accomplished the work of making sources of iron. From this it becomes clearly evident that every kind of mineral, such as gold, silver, brass, lead, etc. also has souls. Thus, this verse is a representative verse in this connection, from which the people of wisdom can understand clearly that minerals too have souls, because guidance is related to the soul. For instance, when the soul of gold gradually transforms the particles of matter into gold, it is its natural guidance. How amazing is it that nobody knows the secret of the guidance of making gold which God has given to the soul of gold! Had a materialistic person known the skill of the soul of gold or that of the soul of silver, it would have been misused.
In verse (57:25) it is mentioned that God sent down iron. But the wise people know that chunks of iron are not sent down from heaven, rather it was the soul of iron that was sent down everywhere, from which it came into being. Thus, all minerals and gems are created according to this law of soul. You may know that pearls and coral are as hard as iron, yet the former is the product of the animal soul and the latter that of the vegetative soul. From this example, one can see that everything has a soul, including minerals.
Q129 You had once said that in reality there is no line of demarcation between matter and soul, except externally and figuratively. Could you kindly present a proof from the noble Qur’an, which will show that matter and soul are two different dimensions of the same reality?
A129 In verse (57:25) God says that He sent down iron. That is, the soul of iron was sent down in a place where it turned into a mine of iron. You can now say with certainty that iron in one place is soul and in another it is matter. Thus, the same thing has two different forms, the spiritual and the material. In this connection the universal law or the law of treasures is in verse (15:21), which says decisively that God reveals everything from His treasures, which are of light and soul.
Q264 Would you kindly explain the exoteric and esoteric wisdom of verse (57:25): “We revealed iron, wherein is mighty power and [many] uses for humankind …”.
A264 God willing! The exoteric wisdom of the verse is that everything has a soul and so does iron. Thus, Almighty God revealed the soul of iron, by which its mines came into existence. Further, it is known that the entire materials for war are made from iron, and countless useful things as well.
The esoteric wisdom is that when the spiritual army of the Imam of the time enters the personal world, this is the meaning of the descending of iron by the command of God, in which there is vehement spiritual war. Spiritual iron (i.e. the army of souls) has countless benefits.
In verse (57:25), it is mentioned: “And We sent down iron (hadid) wherein is severe war as well as many benefits for humankind.”
Hadid exoterically is iron and esoterically, the light of Hazrat qa’im, calayna salamuhu, in which there is the severe spiritual war of the resurrection and many spiritual benefits for the people. That is, there are great benefits of knowledge and recognition for those who recognise the qa’im.
Dhu’l-Qarnayn said: “Bring me blocks of iron.” (18:96) Ta’wil: Strengthen me with (the remembrance of) the supreme Name of Hazrat qa’im.
Verse (57:25) says: “Verily We sent Our Messengers with clear proofs, and sent with them the Book (i.e. Imam) and the balance (i.e. ta’wil), so that people may stand forth in justice; and We sent down iron (exoterically the soul of iron, esoterically the light of qa’im) wherein is severe war as well as many benefits for the people, and that Allah may prove who helps Him and His Messengers without seeing. Verily Allah is All-powerful, Almighty.”
The sending of iron shows that the soul of all minerals is being sent down, because the soul of everything is in the Divine treasures (15:21).
