Q924 When we read Surah-yi Hud (11:56) we conclude that the Lord is on the sirat-i mustaqim and when we read Surah-yi Hijr (15:41) we learn that it leads to Him. Please explain the wisdom of these verses.
A924

  • The sirat-i mustaqim can never be a worldly path, rather it is Allah Himself Who, in the luminosity of His mazhar, i.e., the Imam (May peace be through him) of the time, is the path. Therefore, God from the beginning to the desired destination is Himself the sirat-i mustaqim in the form of His mazhar, otherwise what can the words az-zahir and mazhar mean!
  • The sirat-i mustaqim exists both externally as well internally: externally it is true Islam and internally it is the Imam (May peace be through him). This is the reason why in the very beginning the prayer: Guide us on the sirat-i mustaqim, that is, guide us in the luminosity of the Imam (May peace be through him) is taught.

Q925 The following questions are related to Surah-yi Ma'idah (5:44-48):

  1. In what way is the light in the heavenly book (5:44, 5:46)?
  2. How is the guardian of God's book appointed (5:48)?
  3. Can somebody be the witness of the inner states of the heavenly book (5:44)?

A925

  • The batin of the heavenly book is the Imam (May peace be through him) in whom is the light, which is the light of the heavenly book too.
  • The person who has the book's light is himself its `alim (learned one), mu`allim (teacher) and guardian.
  • Yes indeed it is possible to be a witness of its spiritual states, for example Imam Harun (May peace be through him) was the bab, hujjat and da`i (5:44).

Q926 Is it possible to have a thorough observation of all the inner miracles of the heavenly book in order to be an eye witness?
A926

  • Certainly the Imam and his closest hudud-i din observe all the inner miracles of the heavenly book, without which there cannot be witness or confirmation, or wisdom, or recognition or ta'wil.
  • The Guarded Tablet/Imam-i mubin/hazirah-yi qudus is that amazing miracle of God in which every great event is always freshly guarded and present, because the chain of renewal is continuing in it.

Q927 The following question is related to Surah-yi Ma'idah (5:44): Who are the rabbaniyyun (sing. rabbani) and the ahbar (sing. hibr)?
A927

  • Rabbaniyyun are the pure Imams, who by their knowledge and recognition, nourish the people and ahbar are the da`is.40
  • Read the books of the dignitaries of religion with love in order that you can yourselves appreciate the ta'wili miracles of the Imam (May peace be through him) of the time, al-hamdu li'llah!

Q928 Hazrat-i Amiru'l-mu'minin `Ali (May peace be through him) says: "Ana rabbaniyyu hadhihi'l-ummah" (I am the Divinely inspired savant of this community).41 What is its wisdom?
A928

  • There are several wisdoms in this. According to Al-Munjid, the word rabbani literally means divine, pertaining to God, an `arif, very learned.
  • However, the lexicographer gives the general dimension of the language. As far as we are concerned, `Ali (May peace be through him)'s being rabbani has a very great comprehensive indication particularly for the entire ummah. Does it not mean that as long as the ummat-i Muhammadi is in this world, the light of `Ali (May peace be through him) has to be present?

Q929 The following noble hadith is mentioned in Al-Mustadrak: " `Aliyyun ma`a'l-Qur'ani wa'l-Qur'anu ma`a `Aliyyin lan yaftariqa hatta yarida `ala'l-hawz".42 Please explain its wisdom to us.
A929

  • '`Ali is with the Qur'an and the Qur'an is with `Ali, these two will never separate from each other until they reach the hawz of Kawthar'.
  • As long as the Qur'an is in the world, `Ali (May peace be through him) is externally and internally with it and vice versa and their relationship will continue until they reach the hawz of Kawthar.
  • This is because God has not only sent a Book, but also a light (5:15).

Q930 Does the guidance of the book and the light go upto the hawz of Kawthar? What is the ta'wil of hawz?
A930

  • There is no doubt at all that the guidance of the light of Imamat and the manifest book (5:15) continue upto the hawz of Kawthar, because it is the desired destination.
  • Hawz of Kawthar means that ta'wili knowledge of Hazrat Qa'imu'l-qiyamat, with which the miraculous pond of the Sacred Sanctuary is filled.
  • Although there are many meanings of Kawthar, here however it indicates abundant knowledge.
