The Teacher of Mawla's Love

1. "Mudarris-i cIshq-i Mawla", how beloved and beautiful is this appellation! Such a glorious natural title, in which there is no creaturely intercession or artificial invention, is an extremely great reward from God for a fortunate mu'min or mu'minah. It is because of all the virtues that God has bestowed on them. You must be realising that I want to pay due tribute to those beloved sons and daughters of the holy Imam who always recite profound manqabat and ginan in their very sweet and fine voices. God willing, the spiritual benefit that the fortunate jamacat is receiving through this unique lover-like way of worship is immeasurable and inestimable.

2. I will call every angelic manqabat-reciter: "Mudarris-i cIshq-i Mawla", because they enlighten the hearts of the fortunate members of the beloved jamacat with the pure lesson of Mawla's love. Thus, each one of them is a living institute as well as a teacher; otherwise, where [in the world] is the school of heavenly love? There is an institute or a training centre for every science and art in today's material world, but what is the means to teach the wisdom or spiritual science of the holy love for God, the Prophet and the Imam of the time? Is religion anything other than the love for Mawla?

3. An extremely important and useful book named "Qanun-i Kull" has recently been completed. Its purpose is to acquire knowledge with the help of the concept of universal (kull) or universals (kulliyyat) or the universal of universals (kull-i kulliyyat). For example, the manifest Imam (Imam-i mubin, 36:12) is a subtle heavenly universal or compendium or treasure in his spirituality (batin). In this case, a very amazing wisdom-filled question is: Along with all other essential things, are the spiritual Psalms also present in the manifest Imam or not? No one has ever asked such a unique question. Anyhow, the answer to it certainly is: Why not? The spiritual Psalms are present in the personal world of the manifest Imam. Some of the things associated with it are: The angel of love (jadd = Israfil), the naqur of resurrection, the recitation of tasbih by mountains and birds, etc. This shows that Hazrat-i Dawud's speaking Psalms were in spirituality and his silent Psalms existed physically. Thus, the recitation of manqabat of Mawla's love, accompanied by sacred music, is absolutely in accordance with the physical and spiritual Psalms. Praise be to Allah!

4. God says in surah-yi Saba: "O children of Dawud! Act in the way of gratitude. And very few of My servants are (practically) grateful" (34:13). Hazrat-i Dawud was the Imam of his time, so the wisdom (i.e., ta'wil) of this noble verse refers to the Dawud of the time (i.e., the Imam of the time) and to his spiritual children. This means that everything is [spiritually] present in the Imam of the time, including all the spiritual bounties that were bestowed upon Hazrat-i Dawud. Thus, mu'mins are commanded to attain all the spiritual bounties by following the footsteps of their spiritual father and to perform practical gratitude in this way.

5. It is said in surah-yi Sad: "O Dawud! Verily, We have appointed you a vicegerent in the earth (like Adam)" (38:26). This reveals the reality that every Imam is a vicegerent in the universal earth and heaven in his time, because the universal earth means the Universal Soul (nafs-i kulli) and the universal heaven means the Universal Intellect (caql-i kulli). Both are separate as well as one. Therefore, you too have to become a vicegerent in the universe like your spiritual father.

6. The spirit of the heavenly books such as Suhuf, Tawrat, Zabur, Injil, al-Kitab, etc., is present in the personal world. It is said in surah-yi Anmbiya': "And verily We have written in the zabur (i.e., in the book of the personal world) after remembrance and worship (by carif) that My righteous servants will inherit the (universal) earth" (21:105). The book of the personal world is called zabur because it is also the zabur (Psalms) of Hazrat-i Dawud. My Burushaski poetry mentions sur-i Israfil (trumpet of Israfil), naqur (trumpet) as well as purelo (flute), as the following is one of the couplets:

Je da?yalam su?ure israafi?il pure?eluwe moojiza?a he?enan Qiyaamthte gon duwthrilaa qheér ye muú dthalin le éerin dan?

Translation: I have heard (the sound of) sur-i Israfil, which is the miraculous music of the flute (of love). Perhaps the dawn of resurrection is now here, so, O friends! Wake up from the slumber of negligence.

7. I have seen some manqabat-reciting earthly angels and was taken aback by their sweet voice. There was some lawful magic in their melodious voice, or the miracle of the trumpet of resurrection was working in their blessed voice. God preserve them from the evil eye! May their angelic virtues never diminish, but rather increase and be multiplied day by day, Amin!
