The Greatest Means of Excelling: As mentioned in the booklet"Pure Intellect", the fountainhead of good deeds is the intellect and he who does not have intellect and wisdom, does not have any goodness, because abundant good is linked to wisdom (2:269) and wisdom is one of the names of intellect. Thus the greatest means of excelling others is wisdom in which is hidden the treasure of abundant good.

Rubies and Pearls 103

Here an attempt is made to introduce the present book Miftahul Hikmat ( A Key to Wisdom), in a few words. this book is indeed a key to wisdom from the Qur'anic point of view, not in the sense that it deals with the source of wisdom in detail, rather in the sense that it deals with the source of wisdom, the wisdom which is abundant good according to the Qur'an (2:269) is the knowledge of the realities of things, material as well as spritual. the source of knowledge in Islam is the Holy Prophet as the Khalifah or vicegerent of Allah in his time and after him, the ulu'lamr or the Imam of the time from his holy progeny. this is evident from the themes "Exegesis of the verse of obedience ", "Investigation of miracles", "Physical recognition of perfect Man", "Tawil of Surah of Kawthar" and "The way of seeking Divine help". Allamah Hunzai, thus emphasises that in order to attain the key to this wisdom, one has to have recourse to the progeny of the Holy Prophet, through his recognitio, love for and obedience to him, as does Pir Nasir-i Khusraw (q.s.) : Hikmat az hazrat-i farzand-i nabi bayat just// pak-upakizah za tashbih-u za tatil chu sim// from the presence of the son of the Prophet should wisdom be sought// pure and unsullied as silver from tashbih and tatil.

A key Of Wisdom 8

A Basic Question: With reference to the surah of Yusuf (a.s.): Was Hazrat Yusuf given the wisdom to which abundant good (2:269) is linked, or not? If the answer is “yes, he was”, then it had then it had to be ta’wil which was given to him and in which lies the great wealth of good. And this is a fact that God taught him the science of ta’wil. And the knowledge which God gives to someone cannot be a secondary kind of knowledge, but the original source of all subsidiary sciences. Thus it is true to say that which is the real ta’wil is profound wisdom and in which is abundant good.

Pure Intellect 38

Hikmat (Wisdom): One special and famous name of Intellect is hikmat. Wisdom is both worldly and religious. Therefore if you look in dictionaries, do not confuse religious wisdom with philosophy. Hikmat or religious wisdom is different from philosophy, for which one has to look carefully in the Qur’an. By looking carefully in the Qur’an, one sees that it is given by God. As is said in verse (2:269) “And he who has been given wisdom has been given abundant good.”

Pure Intellect 37

It is a great intellectual disease if there is ignorance among the individuals and nations of the world. The most efficacious medicine for this disease is sent by God, the Physician of the physicians, from the heaven and which is called “wisdom (hikmat)” and which is in the Qur’an, as described in verse (2:269): “He grants wisdom to whomever He wills, and he who is granted wisdom, has been granted abundant good.” It is not surprising if by the abundant good is meant the universal good, because in the Sacred Sanctuary, there is a unity and an integrity of haqa’iq and recognitions, which cannot be divided.

Thus, wisdom is the universal good and the universal good is wisdom. Since, the body is under the soul and the soul under the intellect, therefore, wisdom which is the heavenly medicine for the intellectual diseases can also affect the soul and the body.

  • Wisdom is the illumination of the Absolute Physician.
  • Wisdom is that treasure of the secrets of God which He has granted to His beloved Messenger Muhammad (s.a.s.)
  • Wisdom is a chain of the fruits of the Qur’anic Paradise.
  • Wisdom is the fountainhead of the water of life.
  • Wisdom is the travelling in the heaven of the intellect and the soul.
  • Wisdom is the outcome of spirituality and luminosity of the personal world.
  • Wisdom is the name of the essence of knowledge.
  • Wisdom is spiritual science and the foundation of secular science.
  • Wisdom is that precious thing which used to be the possession of the mu’mins, but is now lost.
  • The original form of wisdom is the recognition of the secrets of azal.
  • Wisdom is the spiritual medicine and the heavenly treatment.
  • Wisdom is the essence of the essences.
  • Wisdom is a Divine gift.
  • Wisdom is an universal treatment and eternal healing.
  • Wisdom is a present of Paradise.
  • Wisdom is the fruit of the intellect and the soul.
  • Wisdom is the capital of the intellectual ones.
  • In wisdom there are the great secrets of fana’ fi’llah (annihilation in God) and baqa’ bi’llah (survival in God).
  • Wisdom is the folded universe of knowledge.
  • Wisdom is the abundant good/universal good. Thus, together with other good things there are, in wisdom, superb medicines for inner diseases.

May Almighty God grant universal healing to the physical and spiritual patients! Amin!

Book of Healing (3)

Every wisdom is not only one good, but also abundant good (2:269). Thus, there is every great wisdom and abundant good in goodwill for mu'mins and Muslims. Goodwill for all people in the light of higher knowledge is the supreme wisdom which can be obtained after knowing and being convinced that as a result of the goodwill and intercession of mu'mins, even the people of Hell will ultimately go to Paradise. For as they were one in azal, the people are going to be one in abad.

Book of Healing (228)

It is necessary to reflect, with complete attention, on the verse in which the excellence of wisdom is mentioned with great comprehensiveness, which is: “He gives wisdom to whom He wills, and he to whom wisdom is given, is indeed given abundant good” (2:269). That is, abundant good depends on wisdom and where there is no wisdom, there is no good. For, wisdom is not only one good, but it comprises all good. Just as in physical honey are gathered the colour, fragrance and nectar of countless flowers, similarly, in spiritual honey (i.e. wisdom) abundant good is gathered.

Hikmah 2 (Special knowledge, wisdom)

Hikmat or wisdom is that supreme thing which, if granted to someone by God, automatically brings abundant good to him, which is attached to it. (2:269)

Thousand Wisdoms 286 (153)

Each word of the Qur'an that has several meanings is called polysemous. A sage speaks in polysemous words when he wants to conceal wisdom in his speech. Therefore, in addition to technical meanings, to know the other meanings of Qur'anic words and to draw conclusions of wisdom from them is called the “abundant good”. As God, the Absolute Wise, says: “He gives wisdom to whomsoever He wills, and whoever is given wisdom, has been given the abundant good. But none comprehends except the possessors of intellect” (2:269). In short, wisdom is not something that someone can acquire by choice, rather it is in God’s hand Who grants it by His will. It is a gift in which abundant good is hidden. God-given goodness is the realities and recognitions (haqa'iq u maarif), which are everlasting. They are not any worldly wealth and bounty that are perishable. No sensible man will deny that wisdom itself is the intellect, as it is said “none comprehends except those who possess the intellect”. That is, it is only the possessor of the intellect who can comprehend. Here, the question of comprehension or non comprehension is related to the Qur'an, which is comprehended only by the one who is granted wisdom. It is wisdom through which he becomes aware of the sciences and realities of the Qur'an. Thus, it is wisdom or the intellect that is the key to abundant goodness.

Balance of Realities (8)

The magnificent and unique wisdom which is at this place is praised in the Glorious Qur’an as follows : “He give wisdom to whom, He wills, and he who is given wisdom , is given abundant good ‘’.(2:269). Wisdom as the sovereign of all bounties is above them and the rest, as its subjects, are under it. If you want to know who the pure personalities are to whom esoteric wisdom or ta’wil is given directly, you can see in the Holy Qur’an that they are the Prophets and the Imams.

Wisdom 33

If possible, you should read the wise Qur’ an with wisdom, because the Chief of the Prophets (s.a.s) had said: "Wisdom is the lost property of a mu’min". Therefore, the prudence of every mu’min lies in continuing to search for the wisdom of the Qur’an, through reflection. In the holy Qur’an wisdom has been praised thus: "And whoever has been bestowed with wisdom (from Allah), there is no doubt he has found a wealth of virtues" (2:269).

Forty Wisdoms of Jihad (25)

An unbiased and wise person should check the esoteric books of the Ismacili dignitaries to see the wonderful wisdoms of the wise Qur’an mentioned in them. What is the source of these magnificent wisdoms? It is the help (ta’yid) of the true Imam’s holy light. Thus, whoever has relatively more wisdom, has the abundant good (khayr-i kasir, 2:269) and this is the prime objective of the presence of the Qur’an and the Imam.
