A Question and its Answer:
If someone asks: Where and how are haqiqat and marifat mentioned in the Glorious Qur'an? The answer is that as mentioned above, tariqat is the path and the kind of light which is needed to walk on it is the light of guidance, another name of which is haqiqat, and this is in reference to the verse (57:28): "A light therewith you will walk". Two things are mentioned in this verse: one is the path to walk on and the other is the light which illumines the path. That is tariqat cannot advance without the light of haqiqat. This is with respect to meaning. From the literal aspect, the word "haqq" has been frequently mentioned in the Noble Qur'an and in many places it is used in the sense of haqiqat. As for marifat, it is also prominently mentioned in the Qur'an, therefore it suffices to mention only a few references here: 2:246; 6:20; 7:46; 27:93; 47:6.

Purpose of the Light of Guidance: Study the verse (57:28) carefully: Is it not the same light of guidance which is permanent and everlasting and the purpose of which is that both the community and individuals have to walk on the straight path and advance in its light? Indeed, Islam is that straight path in whose stages of shariat, tariqat, haqiqat and marifat, every travelling mumin can progress to its ultimate limit.

Study this blessed Farman of Mawlana Ali, may peace be on him: Nahnu nurun min nuri'llahi wa-shiatu-na min-na (We (Imams) are a light from the light of God and our followers are from us)". In this farman, there is great glad tiding for the lovers of the pure Imams, may God's peace be upon them. For nmin-na (from us)" means: "Our followers are from our light". And there is no doubt in the fact that the light of Imamat is with the mu1'mins, not only in the external world, but also in the internal world, linked with their intellect and soul. And it is also known that the light of guidance is ordained to follow the straight path and the paths of peace (57:28; 5:15-16), so that the everlasting treasures of marifat may be recognized, in which there are heaps of pearls and gems and silver and gold of the recognition of self, recognition of the Imam, recognition of the Prophet and recognition of God by every mu 'min.

Sahib (Companion)

Reflect upon the soul-nourishing words of verse (57:28): "And He will appoint for you a light in (the illumination of) which you will walk." This is the light of Imamat, the purpose of which is to guide the people of faith on the straight path. The purpose of walking is to reach the final destination and the final destination is God and where there is God, there is His holy vision, as well as the observation of the secrets of the holy Prophet's micraj.

Q68 Is the furqan mentioned in the above question the light of Imamat, which rises in the personal world, as mentioned in verse (57:28): “O you who believe! Fear God and believe in his Messenger so that he may give you twofold portion of His mercy and appoint for you a light whereby you may walk …”.

A68 Yes, indeed furqan is the light of Imamat, which rises in the personal world, in the illumination of which one has to walk on the straight path, which is also in the personal world.

The eighth proof: “O you who believe, fear Allah and believe in His messenger. He will give you two parts (i.e. zahir and batin) of His mercy and will appoint for you a light (in whose illumination) you will walk (on the straight path) and He will forgive you, and indeed, Allah is forgiving and Merciful.” (57:28)\\ In the above mentioned verse in “O you who believe” are addressed those who, believing in God and His messenger, had started to follow the exoteric injunctions of the Quraan; in “fear Allah” is given the teaching of every kind of piety and fear of God, and in “believe in His messenger” they were taught to believe in him in the true sense. That is, they should obey him in every respect whatever he says about the successor whom he has appointed according to the Divine Command for their future guidance. “He will give you two parts of His mercy” means that through this means God will give you two parts of his mercy, i.e. two parts of His exoteric and esoteric guidance. :And He will appoint for you a light (in whose illumination) you will walk” means that He will grant you the recognition of a light, i.e. the Imam of the time, in whose light you will be able to solve the problems of the changing times and be able to walk. “He will forgive you and indeed, Allah is forgiving and Merciful,” That is, He will make your tasks easier and easier and He is Forgiving and merciful.

The Holy Quraan and The Light of Imamat (27-28)

Part 87

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the merciful

Hazrat Mawlana Sultan Muhammad Shah, peace be upon him, says: “You should keep your soul awake and aware. You will become angels, in fact you will reach a rank higher than that of angels. Those whose deeds are good and pure, whose faith is perfect, whose heart, tongue, ear, hands, feet and mouth are free from sin attain a rank higher than that of Jibra’il. Therefore you should be well aware of knowledge and macrifat, so that you may reach a rank higher than that of Jibra’il, Mika’il and Israfil”.98

It is mentioned in verse (57:28): “O you who believe! Fear God and duly believe in His Messenger. He will give you a twofold portion of His mercy and He will appoint for you a light whereby you will walk and He will forgive you. And God is forgiving and merciful.” The pure light mentioned in this verse is first and foremost Hazrat cAli, peace be upon him, and then the Imams from his descendants.
