Now, in order to understand the subject from its very foundation ,you should study the verse (2:30) in the Quran , as the story of Adam begins from here . It is said “wa idh –qala rabbuka lill-mala ‘ikati inni jailum fi-ardi khalifah (when your rabb said to angels I am going to appoint a vicegerent (of Mine ) on the earth )’’. The key to the lofty and sublime wisdoms of this verse lies in the holy word ‘’rabbukka’ ‘’(thy rabb ) in the sense that the perfect man whom God wills to appoint as His vice-gerent (khalifa) on the earth wants to give mostly the representation of the name ‘’rabb ‘’so that there will be no lack of religious and spiritual nourishment as there is no lack of physical nourishment .Further ,on the day of Resurrection in the Supreme Court of the Divine Low no one will be able to say that there was no means of spiritual upbringing in the world while that of the physical, God had provided every means.

Pearls of Marifat (Part1) 38

Q.7. In your books there is plenty of knowledge about Imam and Imamat, but not enough details about Khalifah (Vicegerent) and Khilafat (Vicegerency). Here, the question is: Is the office of Khilafat and that of Imamat the same, or are they two separate offices?
A. Spiritual Khilafat, in reality, is another name of Imamat. We can also say that Khilafat indeed is Imamat, but this word and the story of it in the Qur'an have come as a veil for the rank of Imamat, so that the recognition of the Imam of the time should be the greatest trial for the people of the past and those of the future. Thus regarding the Khilafat of the first Adam, God said to the angels: "I am going to appoint a Khalifah in the earth." (2:30). Here by the earth is meant the world of humanity and in the Khalifah, i.e. Vicegerent of God, are hidden the meanings of the Imam, just as the Imamat of Hazrat Adam's children was hidden in him.

The angels also said with the tongue of state: "And we do tasbih (purification) and taqdis (sanctification) for you" (2:30). Ta'wilic meaning: And we do Your tasblh at the place of intellect indirectly and we do Your taqdis at the rank of command directly, because in the symbol of the pearl of intellect and in the word of command there is a purely abstract concept of everything. Since Intellect (Hamd) is Allah's name "subbuh" and command is His name "quddus", thus in these two great names, the tasblh and taqdls of Allah continues to be performed by the tongue of the state of everything (17:44). Praise belongs to Allah!

The proper name of the Ceylonian Adam was Takhum bin Bajlaj b. Qawamah b. Waraqatu'r-Ruyadi. It is said that Adam was not his real name, rather it was his appellation, which is applicable to every Natiq in his cycle and to every Imam in his time. Thus Hazrat Takhum, was the first Natiq and the first Adam of this major cycle. Regarding the vicegerency of the one in whose personal world, according to the law of renewal, a perfect, complete, ever-reaching and all-embracing new universe had to come into existence, God said: "Verily, I am going to appoint a vicegerent in the earth." (2:30).

Ya'juj wa Ma'juj - The earthly army of God

Where there is an army, religious or worldly, there has also to be a commander-in-chief. Thus, this magnificent command of the army of Gog and Magog was given first of all to Hazrat Adam. This is why the possible mischief and bloodshed of the earth of the external world and the internal world was attributed by the angels to Hazrat Adam, the vicegerent of God. They said that Adam would continue to cause destruction in the personal world and on the planet earth through this army (2:30). As already mentioned, the destruction of the vicegerent of God is for the sake of construction and progress. The ta'wil of bloodshed is to remove doubts and suspicions which is possible through the knowledge of certainty, the eye of certainty and the truth of certainty.

Thousand Wisdoms 960 (501)

According to Divine plan the vicegerency of Hazrat Adam was declared to the people of the earth (2:30) so why was it that it was the angels who benefitted from his "science of names"? Is there a great secret or wisdom here? Yes, there is. The angels in the story of Adam were among the people of the earth, for they were the mu’mins who had access to the light of Adam from the other end of their souls. In other words, they were all in the "personal world (i.e. Hazrat Adam)" of their time in the form of particles. This means that the soul has two ends. This end is a human being and the other end is an angel. The soul is like a path or bridge so that a thing may come from that side or go from this side. In the light of this example we can also say that the greatest beauty of the bridge of the soul is that it joins this world and the next.

Q. what is the example and proof that the light of Prophethood and the light of Imamat is in the same place?\\ A.(a) See the first declaration of Divine vicegerency, in which are meant both Prophethood and Imamat(2:30)
(b)Hazrat Ibrahim was both Prophet and Imam, Which is a proof of Prophethood and Imamat in the same place (2:124)
(c) Hazrat Musa and Hazrat Harun both used to receive revelation, the first was open revelation and the second was hidden, and everybody knows that Hazrat Harun was as Imam (2:248; 21:48).

Sublime Realities (6)

Part 1

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

The wisdom-filled story of Hazrat Adam, the vicegerent of God, peace be on him, invites the intellect and wisdom to read it again and again, because the masses, as yet, do not duly understand it. For instance, in verse (2:30): “Verily, I am going to appoint a vicegerent in the earth”, by the earth is meant the world of humanity and the permanent presence of God’s vicegerent in it is His sunnat (law, habit), and this continues constantly and consistently (40:85) without any change or alteration (35:43).

Study the subject of the Divine sunnat in the wise Qur’an with great care, so that it may be understood clearly that Hazrat Adam’s vicegerency was according to it. It therefore continues in the world of humanity forever and ever.

Praise belongs to God!

The Wise Qur’an and the World of Humanity (6)

Part 2

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Study the blessed verse (2:30) carefully with intellect, wisdom, knowledge and recognition. A great wisdom among its numerous wisdoms is that God appointed a vicegerent in the world of humanity according to His eternal sunnat. This wisdom lies in the phrase “in the earth” (fi’l-ard), which means the world of humanity, the personal world, the cosmic earth or the Universal Soul, because Divine vicegerency is always necessary for human beings alone. Thus, here by “the earth” is indeed meant the world of humanity, which is on the planet earth. Just as the earth exists, the world of humanity and the Divine vicegerency also necessarily exist and the Adam of the time as well.

It is mentioned in verses (3:33-34): “Verily, Allah chose Adam and Noah and the descendants of Abraham and the descendants of cImran above all human beings, off-spring, one of the other. Allah is hearer, knower.”

The above Qur’anic teaching reveals the secret that there were people in the time of Hazrat Adam and that Allah chose him from all of them.

The Wise Qur’an and the World of Humanity (7)

Q517 Our very dear and esteemed President Ghulam Mustafa Momin from Atlanta asked the following question on the telephone: “Sahib! Please tell us the basis for the division of the twelve jazirahs in this world for the sake of dacwat-i haqq? Does the system of hudud-i din still continue? Are there still one hujjat and 30 dacis in every jazirah?”
A517

  • Regarding the vicegerency of Hazrat Adam(c), Allah says: “I am going to appoint a vicegerent in the earth” (2:30). In this verse by the earth is meant people because Allah did not say “on the earth”, rather He said “in the earth”.
  • This means that not only do the Divine vicegerency (by the name of [recognition and]) Divine guidance continue externally among the people, but Adam(c)’s real recognition and [guidance] continue within the carifs.
  • Thus, by the command of Allah Adam(c) underwent the resurrection and the Divine Spirit started to work in him (15:29; 38:72). By this blessing the universe was subjugated to him and seventy thousand subtle human beings were created from his blessed personality.
  • Furthermore, seventy thousand angels were also created at the place of intellect. According to Allah there are twelve nations in the world which are the twelve jazirahs. For every jazirah one hujjat and 30 dacis are appointed from among the subtle human beings.
  • The inner (batini) system of hudud-i din did not only exist in the time of Adam(c). The same system continues even today spiritually.
