Breathing of Devine Spirit

Q. 30. It is said in the Quran (32:9), that God breathed His Holy Spirit into Hazrat Adam. Was the breathing of the Spirit of God in the same way as the teaching of the Supreme Name, or was it breathed in a different way?

A. We have discussed this in detail in the book “Pir Nasir Khusraw and Spirituality” that God, the Lord of Honour, breathed His Spirit into Hazrat Adam through teaching him the Supreme Name, in which is also hidden the knowledge of all other names.

What is Soul 14

Proof 14: The Wise Quran shows that God had breathed His Spirit into Hazrat Adam (32:9; 15:29; 38:72). By this Spirit is meant the Divine Light which is the fountainhead of guidance, knowledge, wisdom, Prophethood and Imamat and in which are hidden spiritual secrets, luminous wonders and miracles. The same Divine Spirit or Divine Light with all its attributes and beauties was in the Holy Prophet. Thus, it is evident that all the events of the miraj were spiritual and they took place in his sacred heart.

Ascent of Soul 14

Absar (Eyes)

By eyes is meant the asas, because it is he through whom spirituality can be observed. Reflect carefully upon verse (32:9).

Thousand Wisdoms 18 (28)

Samc (Ear)

In verse (32:9) it is indicated that the natiq acts as the spiritual hearing of the people of batin, because this verse alludes to the recognition of the Perfect Man and hence the physical ears are not mentioned in it.

Thousand Wisdoms 465 (248)

Q379 In the above statement you have quoted three verses together. Would you kindly tell us the gist of the wisdom of the third verse (32:9): “Then perfected him and breathed into him of His spirit, and gave you (inner) ears, eyes and hearts”.

A379 Verse (32:9) contains the extremely wonderful wisdom, which is that Adam(c), the Adam(c) of the time and other hudud are mentioned here. Further, it is an allusion that the hudud-i din work for mu’mins as their inner senses.
